Wildlife, Anchorage Style

For Christmas this year, my family came to Anchorage. We hadn't seen any wildlife, specifically moose, for the first several days. Then my brother came to town and Christmas morning he and I went for a drive. Less than a half mile from the hotel we came across the large moose plucking dried bunches of berries from the trees outside the Anchorage Library. The moose was also inadvertently tearing down the Christmas lights. We went back to the hotel, collected the rest of my family and spent a good half hour gawking at the massive ungulate, who surprised even me with the two footed leaps.

Had a visit from three moose today - one lone juvanile male and then a mama and her baby. I love living in a place where encounters like this are common. Don't you?
